Zverev Reaches French Open Semifinals Again

German Battles Through Wobble to Advance

Paris, France

Alexander Zverev continued his resurgence at the French Open on Tuesday, battling through a mid-match wobble to reach the semifinals for the second consecutive year. The German third seed defeated Spain's Jaume Munar 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 in a hard-fought encounter that lasted over two hours. Zverev started strongly and took the first set comfortably. However, Munar fought back in the second set and broke Zverev's serve twice to go up 3-1. But Zverev broke back immediately and then won the next two games to level the score. The German then broke Munar again in the eighth game and took the set on his first set point. Zverev carried his momentum into the third set and broke Munar in the opening game. He then held serve comfortably and broke Munar again in the fifth game. Munar held on to break back in the eighth game, but Zverev served out the match with an ace on his first match point. Zverev will now face Rafael Nadal in the semifinals on Friday. Nadal is the 13-time French Open champion and is the favorite to win the title.
